Product of the Day
I was still selling phones during the day. At night and on weekends I built a product called Reputation Management Madness, and I designed the sales page myself in Photoshop, one badly aligned layer at a time. Then I put it on JVZoo and waited.
It converted at seven percent on the front end. The best products on that platform were running about half of that, which meant a kid with a homemade page had doubled the field. It took Product of the Day. It did about $150K in sales. That was twenty failed schemes finally paying their bill.
Then they flew me to Marketing Mayhem Live. I walked into a room with Russell Brunson in it, years before ClickFunnels existed. Mike Filsaime was there. Frank Kern was there, and Frank Kern bought me a beer before I was old enough to legally drink one, and I have never gotten tired of saying that sentence.
I stood in that room and did the thing I had been doing since I was ten. I looked around and picked my game. Internet marketing. Not phones, not a floor, not somebody else's commission structure. And I was not going to be good at it. I was going to be the Michael Jordan of it, which is a claim I had already put on my own paperwork at ten and never once walked back.
I want to be straight about this. $150K is not a fortune and Product of the Day is a badge on a website. What it bought me was proof, in public, in front of the people whose names were on the courses I had spent six years failing at. I was not the kid in the forum anymore.
